Every morning, very early I step outside and say a little prayer- usually out loud thanking God for all this beauty before me. Here in my little apple-orchard town in Massachusetts, it is lush and green and there is so much growing in season. Even in winter- I find our property magnificent. We look out over a couple of acres of our own but behind us is about 30 acres of woods and fields and marshes and ponds. It’s very beautiful.
Every morning I give thanks for all this beauty.
I’m the daughter of two design professionals. My mom is a painter, who attended Rhode Island School of Design before dropping out to get married…and had her own Interior Design business for 35 years. My dad died 30 years ago, but he was a visionary creative business owner of a dealership of various design-houses and furnished and designed office and contract spaces. Both my parents were very visual talented creative people. I was blessed to grow up surrounded by beauty.
My own sense of beauty is a bit different from my parents. I like things that are from really natural materials, somewhat rustic at times. I tend to not like things that are too modern or sculptural or architectural looking. I like simple with a tiny bit of detail. A white tee shirt with a tiny ruffle. My white wrought-iron garden table and chairs as office furniture. White matelesse quilts on everything. Fairly bare floors. Painted walls with colors that I obsess for months over before buying. The 7 foot pink stone columns from India that I found 5 years ago. A big flowering branch from a crabapple tree in a vase instead of fancy flowers. Natural, a little messy, but it’s in the mix for me usually. Colors usually come straight from nature- eggplant purple and the same green from the stem are in my bathroom. Gorgeous.
I am so turned on by beauty- from what’s in my yard, to in my salad, to what’s in the stores, or on a paint chip that I decided I wanted a place to play with that. We’ll see where it goes.
I will still be writing about Intuitive Body. But All This Beauty will bring more of a living and lifestyle and appreciation and creativie visual experiential mix to it all. I hope you love it. I will be taking pictures and sharing what I can over time- am not quite in that groove yet but plan to get there so be patient and stay tuned ok?
In love and beauty,
Lisa
