If you picked one thing to focus on to end out-of-control-eating, this would be it! Get off the sugar…
I know, easier said than done. But if you’ve never gone this route, what you don’t know is how dramatically better you can feel by getting rid of all of the processed sugary carb foods. Most of my clients are seriously sensitive to this stuff, and we get easily addicted because sugar is like a non-prescription tranquilizer. It really does act like a drug, and it tastes good.
We are over-thinkers, over-analyzers, perfectionistic obsessives by nature. This is a huge piece of the overeater’s profile in my Intuitive Body premise, and in fact, 90% of my clients have told me that they overeat to shut off the noisy obsessive critical chatter that goes on in their heads.
I’ve always believed that overeating/binge eating was more a thinking-thing, or brain-thing than an eating thing. The eating is just the mechanism for relief. Trust me on this, I am an expert from experience and then from profession. This all goes together.
So, getting off sugar.
You want relief, you want to stop feeling slothful or out of control. You want to feel more energy, more like yourself, more focused. If you’re like me, you want the puffiness out of your face and off your middle (sugar causes major inflammation which is a huge contributor to obesity and illness overall- my favorite book that explains this is Dr. Mark Hyman’s “UltraMetabolism”- the book I recommend to all my clients in our first session. He pulls all the science together beautifully and in ways that you can take clear simple action right away.
It’s funny the relief you can feel getting off sugar, despite how fearful we are to give up our “drug”. To make it easier, make sure to get a bit more rest, anything like exercise or meditation will provide good chemical boosts right now, plus a little extra fruit with your meals gives you the natural sugars that will keep you feeling balanced.
