Two headlines that caught my eye this morning online were:
“Study Links Anger and Heart Failure”- to which I silently think “duh”! Anybody paying attention to their body in the throes of anger might notice all of the physical ways in which our bodies pay for this kind of stress. Things that feel bad, tend to be uh…. bad for us.
Your Intuitive Body already knew that anger wasn’t too good for your heart physically or any other way. It takes a lot out of us when we lose control, when we are filled with rage or hatred or whatever intense emotion triggers an angry outburst. We feel shame and regret after, often humiliated by our words and actions. So yeah, anger would understandably be “linked” to heart problems.
The other headline was “Anti-Cancer Super Foods: Do they Really Work?”
The study said yes, the “super foods” like broccoli, blueberries, garlic/onions, green tea, and tomatoes really do “work”. And again, this doesn’t feel like such big news to me. My body always feels better eating fresh and wholesome food than the alternative. It seems like most whole foods have powerful benefits, and again that makes sense when you think about it- processed foods don’t even look like real food to me anymore. And really they’re not- and our bodies know it, in that they do not thrive on a processed diet.
But I’m getting away from my original rant here which is that I get tired of the media or the medical community or whomever trying to motivate people through fear or deprivation. I don’t think it works very well, do you?
Do eat this, don’t eat this, or else…….
Over time those warnings don’t impact people so much in my opinion (it’s nice to have a little blog to express opinions on sometimes!!).
In my experience personally and professionally, what inspires me to make change is…. inspiration! I love to connect with what feels good, as the Abraham-Hicks stuff always says so perfectly “good feels good, and bad feels bad”.
My clients, as much as they may want to lose weight, or stop binge-eating, or find freedom from purging, tend not to make tons of progress on those particular goals.
If anything, when they connect with their fears or thoughts of actions that may feel deprivational, everything gets much worse- spinning out into bigger symptoms, or paralysis and an inability to take any action at all.
This makes sense to me, and if you think about what motivates you or doesn’t, it probably will make sense to you as well.
Instead, I love to help clients connect with what feels really good to them, feeling good leads to wanting to feel good some more. If you can make changes from the place of feeling inspired, hopeful, excited, filled up, good-enough, and more, then you can stay the course, keep moving forward, and meet your goals.
Even with over 20 years of clinical training, and learning about energy healing, and nutrition, and meditation and all that good stuff, the most powerful ingredient is inspiration.
Intuitive Body… Inspiration is included!!
love to you
