I Want To Live At The Spa

Do other women wish they could live at a spa? I love everything about spas- Canyon Ranch in Lenox was where I saved my pennies to get to every year without fail for many years. It was only 2 hrs away by car, and once there everything within me became more civilized, happier, balanced.

I think part of what I love about spa-living is that it lets me live in my senses- in all that is beautiful, while truly enjoying it. It’s impossible not to appreciate the spa-smells, the beautifully arranged artful food, and feeling your body move in ways that may be a stretch in so many ways, but that always feel deeply satisfying. What’s not to love and adore?

It bears repeating.. I want to live at the spa.

So I am doing the next best thing. Bringing beautiful physical living-in-my-senses coming home to my Temple, remembering i am “Sacred Ground” into my daily life.

Today is Day 2.

Yesterday was really good. I totally KNOW how to do this and I have lots of props and am blessed with a beautiful space to act all spa-ish to do it in. Right now I am obsessing about quantifying the journey-

How many days should I commit to living as Sacred Ground? I thought 90 seemed like a good one but kind of arbitrary. Then maybe however many days until the end of 2010, but why stop at the end of the year? A full year appeals to my sense of jumping to extremes and I do like the idea of going through the entire cycle of days and seasons as a mindful-living-in-my-temple type of woman.

God I am craving this experience- seriously. Candles and clean food aside, my soul is longing for more quiet and more stillness and more ways of knowing God. Sometimes my meditation focus is to simply feel for the vibration of the Divine. It’s a really good thing to feel for, when I’ve done it. This is the year I will do more of all these things.

Last night we had a very spa-like dinner. My teen boys are away with their Dad so there was no resistance making it even more zen! Didn’t even have protein, which was big for me. We had an asian broth with miso and some shitake mushrooms and we filled it with greens and herbs at the last minute; cilantro, peapods, sprouts, kale, bok choy. A few drops of chili oil. It was so fresh and clean and nourishing. Everything you’d want in spa food. I ate a few cherries, read a bit, and went to bed feeling lighter and peaceful.

Note to self-Lighter and peaceful are good things to feel
