It’s what you Do! This is maybe an obvious truth, but it’s worth mentioning. Whether we are talking about changing our relationship with food and eating and our bodies, or about learning to speak French- you can read and research and ponder all the live-long days, but ultimately not much can change until you actually do something.
We are lovers of information, us food-addicted types. Most of us have gazillions of books about weight-loss and such. Many of these have never been read, let alone opened. If we did read them, it is likely we did not follow through on any of the ideas or suggestions. It’s like ordering those exercise videos, watched peacefully from the couch!
Back to my premise- yes, you have to do something. Over the years the way I support clients has changed greatly. I used to believe and hope that talking week in and out would lead to the changes clients said they wanted. Guess what? It didn’t.
Making the shift from thinking about to doing is somewhat developmental- one follows the other, and is dependent on having spent time in the earlier developmental stage. But unless you are ready to move into the “doing”, nothing can change.
Change is truly about what you are willing to do. Every day- ask yourself, “today, what am I willing to do”- that willingness channeled into small actions, every day, over time is what will move you forward , comfortably and organically.
Let me know how you made this shift, and actions you were able to take. You know I love hearing from you- wins or misses, all of it.
Sending you love and light on this bright Tuesday!
