For the past week or so, I’ve been in love with my i-tunes collection and adding to it daily. I don’t know what happened.. I used to always have music on around me. The past few years, much less so, my brain seemed to need more quiet and space to sort out who knows what. I even needed quiet in the car. The music went away and I sort of forgot how much I loved it.
And now it’s all music all the time.. such a huge shift in energy with all this music back. And of course there’s singing! Now that Andy isn’t working from home anymore, Luke is back at college, and Nicky is at school til mid afternoon, there is singing. And yes, dancing.
Dancing is a whole separate topic, but I will tell you that I was a passionate lover of all things dance-related from 8th grade when I first saw Alvin Ailey (actually met him up close and in person) and took my first dance class…all the way through the high-impact aerobics craze of the 80’s when I was in the first row claiming my spot class after class until I injured myself from overuse so many times that I needed 2 serious knee surgeries.. yeah, I loved to dance, still do!
So in case you didn’t know, singing and your voice are related to your fifth chakra, aka the “throat chakra” which is where your creative self expression lives, the way you speak your truth, how you express yourself overall and for my clients with eating and weight issues, a place where lots of energy gets blocked. The binges and purges compound and relate to energy not moving through your ways of expressing yourself clearly.
Sing, baby! Go to the i-tunes store and find your favorite songs… the ones that hold your most vivid precious memories. The ones that remind you who you’ve been and who you are. The ones that make you want to sing out loud and move your precious body. You will feel alive and magnificent and free.
I want that for you.
And in case you’re curious what I’m singing and dancing to, the last few days have been a girl-fest...
Stevie Nicks singing ” For What It’s Worth”
Christine McVie singing “Spare Me A Little”
Adele singing “Someone Like You”
Dusty Springfield singing “Son of A Preacher Man”
Aretha (of course!) singing “I Say A Little Prayer”
Shawn Colvin singing “Fill Me Up”
Do what Corinne Bailey Ray says, go put your records on.
Love from my heart to yours…
