Do you recognize true perfection?

What if… perfection, or your heart’s truest desires, showed up in a different way than what you’d dreamed of from the limits of your own imagination. Would you recognize it? What if there was what appeared to be a huge difference, something you perceived as a ‘flaw’…even non-negotiable from your former perspective and belief system… would you consider a holy yes anyways?

I will tell you this. In this past year of my #DanceWithMe living…the things that have been the most powerful, the most wonderful, the most romantic, the most deeply satisfying… have come wiht a surprise. Something that was not quite a fit, something wholly unfamiliar and at times a bit shocking for me to consider saying yes to.. And yet.

I have to smile at the way the world works, and maybe at how the Divine works. I hear it in my head as a little bit of a smiling challenge.. like.. “Do you really want what you say you want? Can you want it even if it’s a bit different, even if you have to shift your position a bit to make space for this person, this experience”? Can you see it as something different than a selling out or a moral failure? Can you say yes and tolerate some differences, can you stay heart open and let yourself have the bigness of it all?

My answer personally, has been a holy yes. With some amusement, some curiosity, some excitement to stretch myself beyond.. so many things… and a feeling of happiness to be able to move beyond something divisive, something us vs them.. something more inclusive.

I am paying attention to the lessons that have been finding me this year and they have been gorgeous and have made my life bigger and brighter.

Just when you think you must say ‘no’ to something or someone, when you think something might be a deal breaker.. you might want to step back and look at what else is there. You might want to hold a little less tightly to your sense of knowing what is just-right for you… and consider letting something in that’s trying to find you..

I have to say it’s been a gorgeous dance this year. Maybe not for everyone and I’m okay with that. But watching how our own paths open and unfold.. letting them be more than what we could imagine, it’s pretty great.
