Part 1 of “Secrets of Living Beautifully In Your Body”- Yes, You Have to Give Something Up
I believe that change happens in a couple of directions… what we add, and what we take out. Don’t put a “deprivational” spin on it, that’s just a mindfuck that you can really spare yourself…and I suggest that you do.
When you really want to create something new, in order to make space for it, emotionally, physically, mentally, whatever… you have to make room. The trick is figuring out what you most want and what needs to go.
If you kept buying new clothes and adding and adding to your wardrobe, you would have to get rid of some things to make room for the new right? It wouldn’t feel good to keep piling things on top of the old…part of the joy of creating something new in your life is the whoosh of fresh clean energy that comes in with it. Which if you’re paying attention, will probably also make you want to ditch something that’s no longer supporting you, something just taking up space. Let that intuitive hit move you to action.. it will feel good.
So let’s say that you’re wanting to create something bigger… a big breakthrough, a change in the way you’re living, the way you’re treating yourself, how you present in the world, how you live in your own body. What would that look like?
Well, first you’d want to get a really clear sense of where your desire lives. Feel around for it, the clearest pieces will come from going inward and letting yourself find the feeling of it. What do you want, what is calling you, where is the craving? You KNOW…if it’s real it’s not a big mystery, get a clear honest sense of it for yourself from your own inner knowing.
This desire will naturally point to your wanting to add something to your routine, to your priorities, to the landscape of you. The “adding” piece isn’t so hard. It’s fun, it’s creative, we like to add! Go ahead and let yourself play with this part.
A little less compelling is the “what do you have to get rid of ” part…Something’s gotta go… yes it really does. Again, kick any thoughts of emotional deprivation to the side for just a minute. What would feel so GOOD to get rid of? What’s holding you up, weighing you down, pulling you down and draining the hell out of you? It might be a habit, an obligation, a person, a perspective.
Again, if you ask yourself this question calmly and give yourself a little space, you will KNOW exactly what has to go. It’s been whispering to you for awhile. Throw yourself a line, and pay attention because this guidance, when you pay attention and take action can create such beautiful relief and peace and confidence for you.
So we’ve stirred the pot a bit here… what’s brewing for you? Any thoughts? What do you know and do you dare to pay attention and start to take action?
By the way, adding and getting rid of things do not need to happen in big sweeping ways. Sometimes they will happen that way, you’ll want to really clear something out or up or through.. go ahead. Purges can be incredibly satisfying. But just as often a couple of small changes, made simply and without tons of fanfare can be powerful. The most important part is that you tap into what you know and feel, no judgment or you won’t get the information that’s there for you, and let yourself create from your intuitive guidance.
Would love to know what you’re mulling over, considering, getting ready to shift here…and again, stay out of judgment, small changes are beautiful and easier to sustain and build on, so don’t paralyze yourself with the belief that it has to be a huge change.. it does not.
Recently, I have given up time on Facebook in the morning, a relationship with a friend who was behaving badly, and added more bursts of music into my day.
Lighten up, let it go, clean it up… see what’s calling you.
Big love from my heart to yours…
