What are some of the ways you try to ‘escape’?
Every spiritual teacher I’ve had in life, both in real time or through the teachings, has said some version of ‘get back in your body’.. come back to present time, be in the moment, feel what is here, stay grounded….
And yet most of us don’t want to. Including me.
The way I have found best to stay in my body and present is through really attuning to the sensual, sensory, the beauty of what is in the moment and letting myself receive there. Through the breath, through different ways of bringing the energy in and downwards. Through compassionate self talk and actions. Through really tending the body in loving and beautiful nourishing ways. Through choosing where I spend my energy and with whom. This takes a fair amount of permission.. permission to know what you need to stay clear and balanced.. and to allowing yourself to make those choices. It also involves lots of release.. letting go. Of the past, of relationships that don’t feel loving, of so many things that we tend to want to hold onto. It’s a big deal. Through practices of conscious presence like meditation or yoga or martial arts. Through being outdoors and connecting with the natural world. There are many ways. Finding the mix that is yours is what will serve you.
Finding the out of the noisy chatty brain that talks trash an awful lot of the time, as do the minds of all of my clients.
I have always believed that kind of nonstop thinking mind was intimately related to disordered eating and other addictive patterns of escape, of detouring all of the thoughts and feelings that can be so painful.
But we escape in many ways.
We disconnect from our intuitive guidance and knowing, the #IntuitiveBody.. and this is never a good thing although I love how Caroline Myss always says that intuition is the voice that nobody wants to hear…. we don’t always love the simple guidance and knowing we need to course correct.
Part of the problem with disconnection is that we can’t receive when we are ‘not home’…. We are not present for the magic and miracles.. nor the small gifts, nor the insights, nor the guidance nor the sensual beauty of the moment.
We go missing.
Living in Beauty, staying present with your whole self and the world… is very challenging in this age of information overwhelm, and what feels like the known world tipping in ways that do not feel like good news.
And yet when we go missing, we often engage in behaviors that are self-harming, that are out of alignment with what our soul is trying to present us with, with the experiences and people we are meant to meet and connect with and learn from (even the ones that don’t feel good.. we have soul contracts.. we are meant to keep moving).
So.. today consider where are the places you are vulnerable to going missing, escape, disconnection… and where might you take a small conscious step to come back into the moment and to your own #IntuitiveBody connection?
And yes.. I can help. This is a big part of what i do with clients.
I work only one to one. Coaching you privately and powerfully and with love and devotion is it for me. All I am really interested in. I have coaching programs that start at $111/month… that go up in investment… group rates or more intensive long term. I’d love to talk with you if this piece sparked something in you. We can just talk. Reach out to me my contact page, or read more about Hearth and Table here, or other ways I can support you here.
All love all beauty xo lisa
